I agree with Henry Louis Gates Jr on his opinions about Black History Month. I think that Black History month is an important part of many people's life who went through the harsh circumstances. African Americans finally get to rejoice in what they lost. It not only is important because of some peoples harsh circumstances. But also many African Americans have greatly contributed to things we have today, even if we don't take time to notice it. And most of them are not credited for what they did. So with Black History Month being a month, many African Americans get some type of credit for what they did.
My top 5 moments are HALLE BERRY for 1st. Then Denzel, Barack Obama, MLK, and Malcolm X.
ReplyDeleteI think that Black History month is an important part of many people's life who went through the harsh circumstances. African Americans finally get to rejoice in what they lost. I am glad that I am learnin about my past. I think in some areas I need to know where my people came from.

- Micheal Jackson selling his record.
- Obama as a President in presend days.
- First Black Princes and
- Oprah Winfrey show.
However after reading the article about the Henry Louis Gates Jr, I came to knew that his opinions are leterally right with the black history month. Since there are many blacks who were been awarded in different spots, he said that, "I would like one day to see the need for Black History Month disappear because the contributions of our ancestors have become a fundamental part of the American-history curriculum". The differents moments did by blacks in the black history shows that blacks also have some capability do the things that imprase then to be popular. However most part of the country still show the racism upon blacks. Regarding to this evence Henry louis Gates Jr said that "we all want to be jugde individuals but it really doesn't matter what you want".
My top 5 history moment are..
ReplyDeleteBarbara Jordan - first black elected Congress of Houston
Sidney Poitier - Best actor
Edward William Brook III - first black Senator
Maynard Jackson - elected mayor of Atlanta
Kool Herc - fomed basis of rap
I think Gates made some really important facts.
I agree with him when he says that until we know black people as well as we know white historians, we can not stop having only one month for black history month. Gates also made a good point when he said that no one is actually all black. That Americans is acually mixed race.
